The Hunger Games
Since The Hunger Games came out this weekend I figured I would blog about it since I am one of many who not only loved the book but really enjoyed the movie as well. Movies advertise in many different types of ways from the moment they start to produce the movie until it is out on DVD. I thought The Hunger Games advertised uniquely in one specific way. Effie, one of the characters in the movie, wears a low priced nail polish throughout the movie. As you can see in the attached article, Effie is a very unique character. The producers figured this would be a good advertising technique because The Hunger Games is supposed to attracted all types of age groups. When a young teen goes into a drug store and sees Effie advertised on the same nail polish they will not only recognize the movie but they will also be interested in the product.
I think when nail polish companies do special collections of colors for movies it is really smart and catchy. My favorite line was a couple of summers ago when OPI did a Skrek set. I don't even like Skrek but I loved the colors. It is trendy and attracts fans of those specific movies and the colors always seem relevant and to go with the style of the movie. It's a great way for nail polish companies to make money and it adds to the success of the film as well.
ReplyDeleteI believe this is an extremely catchy way to lure in customers to buy the companies products especially with movies with as big as an audience base as the Hunger Games. People have been very interested and excited with the opening of the Hunger Games because the books were so interesting and popular as well. I believe this is very strategic for companies to take advantage of the popularity of a movie.
ReplyDeleteI have personally not read the Hunger Games series. But now after the movies have been created and are taking over the box office I am interesting in not only reading the books but seeing the movie. The Hunger Games was highly advertsied for a long time now. Everyone has been talking about the Hunger Games. It has become the new Harry Potter and Twilight of 2012. Because of the high promotion for the Hunger Games I am planning on reading the books and seeing the movie as a result.
