Every year you see a brand celebrate their big anniversaries such as 50 years or 100 years. This article talks about how these brands use these anniversaries as advertising techniques to pull consumers in. Companies usually come out with special products throughout the anniversary year which allows many new and old customers to celebrate with them. Celebrating these anniversaries are a big marketing technique because it shows many people the quality of products these companies come out with since they have been in business for so long. This year I have especially noticed Oreo's 100 year anniversary. They have made a few 'birthday' cookies so that everyone can celebrate this big accomplishment with them. I think that this is a really great way that a company can implement a marketing campaign that will be sure to make money and get more customers.
I love these of company celebrations because there are so many ways a company can enhance their company image. The longevity alone can give consumers confidence in the product. Congrats to Oreo and let the advertising frenzy begin.
ReplyDeleteI think that by companies celebrating big anniversaries that it not only helps promote the company's product, but it shows consumers that they have been in business for 50 or 100 years for a reason. The longevity shows that the company was able to make it through the good and the bad and was still able to come out on top. This shows consumers that they know what they want and I think this could interest potential customers to become the company's new customers.

ReplyDeleteI think it is really cool what Oreo has done for their 100th anniversary. I haven't tried the birthday cookies but have heard they are really good. I agree it is a smart way to promote their brand and it shows how reliable and trusted the company is by being around for so many years.
ReplyDeleteI like when these companies advertise their anniversaries because it allows them to introduce a new product to consumers. At the same time, they are doing this because it is just another way for them to make money. Also, I think it's more directed towards loyal customers to show that without them, they wouldn't have made it this far.
