Game Day Advertising

Yesterday I went to a Red Sox game and of course I could not hold myself back from all of the advertisements.  Not only could you get your brand or logo printed around the stadium but you could also sell your pizza, such as Papa John's, or even the lawn care services, such as Scott's.  After sitting at the game yesterday and truly taking in all of the advertisements that you can simply not avoid I thought about how these companies that did make their way into Fenway Park, or any park/field for that matter, are truly luck.  That is such a huge way to raise awareness to your product.  Frank's hotdogs are being sold across the stadium until the 7th inning.  If you were someone who has never had a Frank's hotdog and decided to get one and ended up loving it you could go to your local grocery store and pick up a package for your family.  I know this concept is something that we are all used to as it has been around for years but after sitting there and taking it all in I thought about how great of an opportunity that would be for your brand or company.

Engagement Marketing

Degree Men Deodorant

Degree is starting a new advertising technique called engagement marketing.  They are going to use their mans deodorant product and create a series of videos that online social gamers can watch.  Every time these gamers watch another advertisement video from the series they can potentially earn points for their games online.  This is another great incentive to get your customers involved while learning more about your product.  In the article above it stated that about 95% of people who view these videos are more likely to go buy a degree product or share this video which will allow for further viewers and comments.  I believe that degree is really taking a great step into a new and upcoming movement as social gaming is becoming more and more popular.  Many other companies should take part in engagement marketing as it seems to be highly successful for Degree.

Titanic

Movie Come Backs

I came across this article on the Titanic.  This article shows how the Titanic story has yet to die out and it not looking like it is going to anytime soon.  This article portrays how since the Titanic came out in theaters there have been TV show spin offs, commercials, books, and many other products or services that relate to either the movie or the actual sinking of the Titanic.

After reading this article I thought about how this is in big part advertising when it comes to the movie, at least.  Over the past few years we have all seen The Lion King, Titanic, and many other childhood favorites come back to Theaters but even better in 3D or IMax.  Millions of dollars have been put into advertising to bring these movies back however these movies showed profits all over again for a second time.  I believe, especially for the Titanic, that it is a great advertising campaign which raises awareness to the history of the event yet it still proves to raise profits as well.

Brand Anniversaries

Brand Anniversaries

Every year you see a brand celebrate their big anniversaries such as 50 years or 100 years.  This article talks about how these brands use these anniversaries as advertising techniques to pull consumers in.  Companies usually come out with special products throughout the anniversary year which allows many new and old customers to celebrate with them.  Celebrating these anniversaries are a big marketing technique because it shows many people the quality of products these companies come out with since they have been in business for so long.  This year I have especially noticed Oreo's 100 year anniversary.  They have made a few 'birthday' cookies so that everyone can celebrate this big accomplishment with them.  I think that this is a really great way that a company can implement a marketing campaign that will be sure to make money and get more customers.

Mobile Applications

Has anyone noticed how prominent advertisements are on mobile phones applications?  Advertisements are literally everywhere it is actually somewhat amazing however they do get in the way most of the time.  Does anyone play 'words with friends' or 'draw something'?  (Just to name a few)  Well I play both and if anyone of you plays you very well know that after every play that you make an advertisement shows up whether it is for toothpaste or a trailer for a upcoming movie.  There literally are so many ways that companies can advertise these days as technology has advanced so quickly it is pretty crazy.

Twitter

Twitter_Social Media_Advertising

This article talks about three potential major changes that Twitter is thinking about launching which is only going to enhance the opportunities for companies to advertise through Twitter.  One of the changes is an open platform which is where Twitter is going to allow third parties to come into the network which creates new ways that companies can expand their brands.  Recently I wrote a paper on how Social Media is impacting advertising and I believe that this article truly outlines this effect.  There are so many opportunities through social media that may companies can take advantage of which only improves the communication with their customers and increases the amount of new consumers.  These opportunities also enhance consumers time on social media as they can learn about new products or services, win prizes, or read about a new company that they may never have even heard of.  This is truly something that is continually changing and I believe it is only going to become more prominent as technology increases.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games

Since The Hunger Games came out this weekend I figured I would blog about it since I am one of many who not only loved the book but really enjoyed the movie as well.  Movies advertise in many different types of ways from the moment they start to produce the movie until it is out on DVD.  I thought The Hunger Games advertised uniquely in one specific way.  Effie, one of the characters in the movie, wears a low priced nail polish throughout the movie.  As you can see in the attached article, Effie is a very unique character.  The producers figured this would be a good advertising technique because The Hunger Games is supposed to attracted all types of age groups.  When a young teen goes into a drug store and sees Effie advertised on the same nail polish they will not only recognize the movie but they will also be interested in the product.

Pinterest

Have you used Pinterest or have you heard anything about this newly advanced social media's website?  Pinterest, I believe, is another new way that companies can advertise through another form of social media.  I came across this article which shows several easy steps that businesses can take to advertise their products or services simply by "pinning" and having others "re-pin" on Pinterest.  I personally have a Pinterest and love it.  On many different occasions I come across a product on Pinterest that I really like.  I end up not only "re-pinning" that product so others can enjoy it but I then click on this product which most of the times brings you to the actual business website which from there you could purchase it.  This website is really cool and vastly growing.  I encourage everyone to check out this website especially if you own a business and would like yet another easy and cheap way to advertise your products or services.

Advertising Through Social Media

Promoting Products Using Social Media

What do you think about advertising through social media such as Twitter, Facebook, etc.?  I believe that this is a very inexpensive form of advertising for many start up companies which is leading to many well known companies to follow in that direction.  Since social media has increased tremendously within the past five years or so it is so easy, as the article relays, to simply have your consumers follow your products through your social media sites.  Many of these companies even do several promotions throughout the year through their social media sites which attracts many new customers just within one year.  As I stated I believe this is a very inexpensive way to advertise ones products and to interact with their customers and it is becoming a top priority for many companies.

SuperBowl Commercials

After watching the SuperBowl last Sunday I had the same feeling as this article reveled.  I felt that there were not many commercials that stood out to be outstanding.  There was one or two that I thought was creative but I did not catch the correlation with the brand therefore I did not consider it "good advertising".  As this article states there is a lot of pressure to create the best commercial that is aired for the first time during the SuperBowl but I think do not think that is the real reason for this years performance as we have seen many good quality commercials presented in the past.
